The Moose Jaw Canucks did just enough to sneak past the Franklin Fire, 3-2, at Foresters Stadium. Moose Jaw pitcher Rainer Letroit earned player of the game honors. Roberto López closed it out for his 2nd save. Moose Jaw, now 6-3, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Alberto Menéndez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Franklin pitcher José Martínez, he hit a full count changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Moose Jaw on top, 3-2.
"We take it day by day here," said Letroit, "and today was a good one for us."
