The Provo Mango trumped the Chicago Gold Sox, 6-4, at Little Gold Sox Park. Provo first baseman Braxton Cottongame was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Mango improved to 44-31.
Provo used the timely hitting of Jesús Espinoza to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mango on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Espinoza told the Provo Times: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
