McBride Helps Chiefs Run Win Streak to 4
|
The Caldwell Chiefs defeated the Myrtle Beach Seahawks, 7-5. Earning player of the game honors was third baseman Chris McBride, who was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Caldwell reliever Vasile Alexandrescu was the winner. His record is now 5-0. The losing pitcher was Masaki Ito. Caldwell has now won 4 straight, while the Seahawks have lost 3 in a row.
Caldwell used the bat of Junji Ito to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," McBride told the Caldwell Bulletin. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
