Guzzlers Score Late to Upend Seahawks, 3-2
|
The Galesburg Guzzlers picked up a win at Galesburg Field, knocking off the Myrtle Beach Seahawks, 3-2. On the mound for Galesburg was left-hander Ángel Martínez, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Galesburg reliever Steve Pilant, now 1-2. The loser was Duckens Nazon. Even with the win, the Guzzlers have a dismal 5-19 record.
Had Clint Morgan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Morgan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Guzzlers.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Myrtle Beach manager Kyle Holman.
