Rio Dring pitched well, but his team, the South Beach Blaze, still dropped a 4-1 decision to the Caldwell Chiefs at The Ballpark on the Beach. The win brings the Chiefs to 10-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Caldwell used the timely hitting of Daron Mack to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Mack said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
