Storm Fall to Airmen, 6-5

The Alameda Airmen scored a 6-5 win versus the Syracuse Storm at Alameda Field. Alameda right fielder Jesús Leoz nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Jaime Rúbio got the win, improving to 3-4. He held the Storm to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The 4th-place Airmen are now 50-43, the Storm 53-40.
Alameda third baseman Bernardo Hernández made his contribution to the Airmen cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth inning. For the day, Hernández went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Syracuse manager Theodore Johnston. "But we decided not to take it."
