Tula Turn Back Washington, 2-1
|
Chicago beat Washington at Washington Park, eking out a 2-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher William Burkett, who earned player of the game honors. Ramiro Valdés, credited with the save, is now 6 for 8 in save opportunities. The 8th-place Tula now have a win-loss record of 40-51.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Tolenka Kafengauz to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tula on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Kafengauz told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
