The Alameda Airmen topped the Niagara Falls Expos, 5-2, with youngster Sebastian Franke playing a key role. Franke went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Airmen in the win. Jason Mejía got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Expos to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Batu Khan notched his 19th save in 25 chances.
Franke made an early impact for Alameda when he stroked his 32nd double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which came in the top of the third, put the Airmen on top, 3-0.
"This is not a one-man show," said Franke. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
Alameda is now 47-42. Niagara Falls is 37-52.
