Expos Stick Hotspur U-21 with 5-2 Loss
|
Niagara Falls Expos starter Curt Pless turned in a top-notch performance against the Phoenix Hotspur U-21 at Waterfall Park. The result was a win for the Expos, 5-2. Pless, now 6-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Alfonso Hadalgo locked down his 19th save.
Niagara Falls shortstop Pablo Saavedra contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 70th hit of the season and put the Expos ahead, 3-0.
Saavedra told a Niagara Falls Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Niagara Falls, now 33-50, holds last place in the Silver A.
