|
Dave Shepard pitched a gem to lead Mancelona to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Tula. Shepard, now 6-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Mancelona is now 43-39, Chicago 36-46.
Carlos Moreno hit a run-scoring triple off Javier Ariza in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Torch in front, 1-0. Moreno had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Shepard told the Mancelona Gazette.
