Generals Turn Back Syracuse, 1-0
|
The Washington Generals got a magnificent effort from pitcher John Moore, who kept Syracuse hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Generals win at Storm Park. Moore, the winner, moves to 2-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The Generals now have a record of 36-45 with the win over Syracuse.
The outcome might have been different for Washington, had it not been for Stanley Zijm, the 20-year old center fielder . Zijm stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Washington up, 1-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Moore told the Washington Today.
