Hawks Saddle Generals with 6-4 Loss
|
Washington center fielder Stanley Zijm was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Laredo beat the Generals, 6-4. Zijm was named the player of the game despite the loss. Dave Hamilton got the win, improving to 8-6. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Laredo is now 42-35.
Laredo used a timely hit from Sergio San Martín to get the win. The shortstop delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hawks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like our moxie," said Hawks manager Lou Boone.
