Rainbow Mermaids Come Back Late to Clip Dirty Reds
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids took San Mateo pitcher Michael Machen's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Lang Park. The final score had Northern Virginia getting past the Dirty Reds, 6-1. Machen went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 5. The Rainbow Mermaids, now 8-2, have stormed out of the gates.

Northern Virginia took a 2-1 lead on Scott Dourque's 6th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Dourque hit in the top of the eighth, left San Mateo pitcher Matt Digby visibly frustrated.

"Winning is contagious," said Dourque. "We're looking forward to the next game."
