Torch Field was the site of a tense game between the Mancelona Torch and Syracuse Storm.

The Syracuse Storm got a magnificent effort from pitcher Ramón Flores, who kept Mancelona hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Storm win at Torch Field. Chun-yeong Byung-Ho sewed up the save, his 8th.

Syracuse relied on the hitting of Rick Newell to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Storm on top, 2-0. For the game, Newell had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Newell told the Syracuse Citizen.
