Generals Slip Past Phoenix, 3-2
|
Washington beat Phoenix at Washington Park, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher John Moore, who earned player of the game honors. The win puts the Generals at 32-32, while the Hotspur U-21 drop to 25-39.
Had Bill Butler not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Butler hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Generals.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Phoenix manager Dexter Shannon.
