Expos Come Back Late to Clip Hotspur U-21
|
The Niagara Falls Expos got a good effort from starter Curt Pless in defeating the Phoenix Hotspur U-21 at Hotspur Kiddie Complex. The final score was 3-1. Pless, now 4-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Alfonso Hadalgo earned the save, his 12th.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Phoenix hurler Rick Hubbard, Pablo Saavedra, who is tied for 8th in the SA in triples with 3, hit a single. The Expos went on to win.
"I really like what we did out there today," Pless said after the game.
Phoenix has now lost 6 consecutive games.
