Ramírez Goes Wild, But Airmen Win
|
Phoenix first baseman Alfonso Ramírez had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Ramírez went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, even as Alameda beat the Hotspur U-21, 11-7. Ramírez was named the player of the game despite the loss. Alameda is now 26-20, Phoenix 19-27.
Alameda needed the clutch hitting of Pablo Pagán to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Airmen on top, 9-7. For the game, Pagán had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Alameda manager Harris Bailey.
