5 Straight Wins for Torch
The Mancelona Torch dealt the Tennessee Smokies a 5-3 loss at Torch Field. Enrique Flores was the star on offense. He was 4-4 with 4 singles. Zi-cheng Yang picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-5. He struck out 9 in 6.1 innings. The 5th-place Torch now have a 5-game winning streak.

Mancelona right fielder Walke Mehoff contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 40th hit of the season and put the Torch ahead, 4-2.

In comments to the Mancelona Gazette, Flores admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
