Hawks Pin 5-2 Loss on Torch
|
The Laredo Hawks trumped the Mancelona Torch, 5-2, at Torch Field. Laredo third baseman Jesús Gómez was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jim Stephenson was called on to finish, recording his 6th save. Laredo is now 17-13, Mancelona 13-17.
Laredo took a 4-2 lead on Gómez's 35th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which he hit off George Kipcak in the top of the seventh, propelled Laredo to the win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Gómez said.
