Airmen Score Late, Stun Hotspur U-21, 10-6
|
Phoenix got a terrific game from third baseman Jesse McCoy. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Alameda, 10-6. McCoy was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Hendrikjan Zweers earned his 2nd save in 2 tries. Alameda has now won 3 straight, while the Hotspur U-21 have lost 3 in a row.
Tom Taylor hit a bases-clearing triple off Javier Fierro in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Airmen in front, 8-5. Taylor had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 4.
In comments to the Alameda Herald, Taylor admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
