The Mancelona Torch went home winners at Torch Field, thanks in large part to starter Kenzaburo Hakui. Hakui silenced the Syracuse Storm, enabling Mancelona to grab the 2-1 win. Earning his 6th save of the year was Amadi Azagba. Mancelona now sits at 11-12, while Syracuse falls to 17-6.

Jacques Viceronte took Tim Wallace deep in the bottom of the seventh. His solo home run put the Torch on top, 2-1. In all, Viceronte had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Syracuse skipper Theodore Johnston, "and it cost us."
