Hotspur U-21 Subdue Generals, 5-3
|
The Phoenix Hotspur U-21 topped the Washington Generals, 5-3, with youngster Daniel Joseph playing a key role. Joseph was 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs for the Hotspur U-21 in the win. Bob Norlander, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held the Generals to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Sean Neely earned the save, his 4th.
One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Washington hurler Klaus de Lijser, Frank Ray, who is tied for 5th in the SA in bases on balls with 14, drew a walk. The Hotspur U-21 went on to win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Joseph.
The Hotspur U-21 sit in last place in the Silver A with a record of 9-14.
