Storm Top Hotspur U-21, 9-6
|
The Syracuse Storm knocked off the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, 9-6, at Storm Park. Martín Muńóz, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Syracuse won. The catcher was 2 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Ramón Flores went 5.1 innings for Syracuse to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 earned runs. He scattered 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record improves to 4-0. The Storm, now 14-5, have hit the ground running this season.
Early in the game, Muńóz had a 2-run double for Syracuse. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Storm on top, 5-3.
"We maximized our offense today," said Syracuse skipper Theodore Johnston. "That makes everyone's life easier."
