Hawks Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Tennessee
|
The Tennessee Smokies got a superb performance from pitcher Júlio del Bosque, but the Laredo Hawks still won the game, 6-2. del Bosque was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. With the loss, Tennessee sinks to 8-8.
It could have been a different outcome for Laredo, had it not been for Eddie Neef, the 22-year old right fielder . Neef contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Laredo up, 3-1.
Neef expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
