The Expos had to overcome a fine performance from Alameda pitcher António León to grab a 6-3 win at Alameda Field. León allowed 2 earned runs over 5.1 innings. The winner was Curt Pless, who threw 95 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Alfonso Hadalgo nailed down his 1st save.
Niagara Falls used the timely hitting of Takeshi Kovacs to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Expos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
