Big Day for Larson as Reefers Down Bulls, 10-8
|
With second baseman Jhett Larson leading the charge, the Cape Coral Reefers defeated the Mt. Vernon Bulls, 10-8, at Margaritaville Park. Larson, who is tied for 10th in the 3A in home runs with 10, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Kazuhiko Higuchi was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Oakland Scanlan earned his 6th save in 7 tries.
Larson put Cape Coral up, 8-0, when he hit a 3-run home run off Ramón Galván in the bottom of the third. His 10th home run of the season helped the Reefers capture the win.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Larson, "but we got it done."
Their 49-37 record puts the Reefers 4th in the Menard's A.
