Put-In-Bay left fielder Man-su Chong was sensational. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Eugene beat the BC, 7-6. Chong was named the player of the game despite the loss. Eugene reliever Pi-ao Shu got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Jeremy Parker was tagged with the loss. Esteban Vásquez picked up the save, his 7th.
The BC had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Vandals going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old third baseman Meshach Ashpenaz came to the plate. Ashpenaz hit a run-scoring single on a 1-0 splitter from Put-In-Bay hurler Jeremy Parker. It was Ashpenaz's 45th hit of the year.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Vandals manager Travis Miller. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
Eugene is in last place in the Menard's A with a record of 18-51.
