River Rats Rally For Late Win Over Chukars
|
The Columbia River Rats defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars, 6-5, at Columbia Stadium. Columbia third baseman Don Parker was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-2 with a double and 4 walks. Columbia reliever Taro Kishita was the winner. His record is now 3-1. Camillo Vialli took the loss. The first-place River Rats have a one-game lead in their division.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Carsello Scruggins came to bat in the bottom of the ninth. Facing Idaho Falls pitcher Chris Abbott, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Columbia on top, 6-5.
"I had a good game," said Parker. "Winning makes it even better."
