Caterpillars Sink River Rats, 3-1
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars got a good effort from starter Juan Capmany in defeating the Columbia River Rats at Columbia Stadium. The final score was 3-1. Capmany, now 2-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. The win puts the Caterpillars at 18-17, while the River Rats drop to 26-9.
Grand Forks used the timely hitting of Kunimatsu Furukawa to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Caterpillars on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Capmany said.
