Humpbacks Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Belugas
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks took Brinkley pitcher Ralph Greer's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Belugas Ballpark. The final score had Alaskan getting past the Belugas, 4-3. Greer went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 10. The Humpbacks own a robust 66-36 mark.
Alaskan used the timely hitting of Luke Thornton to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Humpbacks ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"This was a good win for us," said Thornton. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
