It was a good time at Belugas Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Alaskan Humpbacks and Brinkley Belugas get after it.
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Weston Doyle, the Brinkley Belugas defeated the Alaskan Humpbacks, 6-5. Doyle was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Belugas. Desiderio Toccafundo, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. Ewan Atwood, credited with the save, is now 16 for 19 in save opportunities.
Had Melito Báez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Báez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Belugas.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Doyle told the Brinkley News.
The 4th-place Belugas raised their record to 54-46.
