Bakersfield starter Elton Coalan had a strong outing against the Port Royal Disaster at Ballpark of Port Royal. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Coalan went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-4. José Sauls recorded his 1st save for Bakersfield.
The result might have been different for Bakersfield, had it not been for Juan Alvarado. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Nobles ahead, 3-1. For the game, Alvarado had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Bakersfield manager Enrique Castro. "Our pregame was pretty good."
