The Texas Bronze Sox got a sterling performance from pitcher Hercules Mata'afa, but the Belugas still prevailed, 6-2. Mata'afa was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters . Bob Roth nailed down his 1st save. The Belugas improved to 50-41.
Lawrence Stokes's at-bat in the bottom of the first inning was a big one for Brinkley. Coming to bat with no one out, the bases loaded and Brinkley trailing 1-0, the first baseman reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run.
"Feels good to get the job done," Stokes said after the game.
