Lynx Jolt Golden Cranes with Late Rally
|
In a tight game between the Calgary Lynx and the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, pitcher Xiao-shuang Wong was terrific on the mound. The Calgary right-hander was named the player of the game in Calgary's 2-1 win. Calgary reliever Quan Shiu picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Cris Herrera was collared with the loss. Calgary, at 52-32, occupies third place in the Premier AAA.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, first baseman Raúl Maradona won it for Calgary. With a runner on 2nd, Maradona hit a 1-1 fastball from Pablo De La Torre for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 2-1 win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Wong told the Calgary Gazette.
