Disaster Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Belugas
|
The Brinkley Belugas got a superb performance from pitcher António Correa, but the Port Royal Disaster still won the game, 5-4. Correa was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Port Royal reliever Chenor Njie was the winner. His record is now 3-5. The losing pitcher was Desiderio Toccafundo. The Disaster now have a mark of 37-47.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Port Royal designated hitter Richard Cutshall, facing Pedro Huerta, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Disaster the 5-4 win.
"We'll savor this win," Cutshall told the Port Royal Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
