Victory Pushes Nobles Record to 47-27
|
The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Brinkley Belugas, 8-5, at Jerome Grounds. The Nobles got a fine performance from catcher Alfredo Araújo, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 2 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. José Sánchez earned the win to go to 3-2. He allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. The Nobles raised their record to 47-27.
Araújo contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Bakersfield in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Araújo took a fastball from John Núñes and stroked the double to right. His 19th double of the season allowed the Nobles to leap in front, 2-1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Araújo, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
