The Port Royal Disaster eked out a 3-2 win versus the Bakersfield Nobles at Jerome Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Phil Soto, who captured player of the game honors. Soto went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-5. Chenor Njie earned the save, his 13th, for the Disaster.

It could have been a different outcome for Port Royal, had it not been for Ricky Payton, the 32-year old center fielder . Payton contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Port Royal up, 1-0.

"Both teams played hard," said Port Royal manager .

The Disaster bumped their record to 24-20 with this latest triumph.
