Brinkley got a terrific performance from pitcher De John Cleland, but it wasn't enough to beat the Calgary Lynx. Calgary won the Lynx Stadium contest, 5-4. Cleland was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings allowing 4 runs. Calgary reliever Wai-ho Fan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ewan Atwood absorbed the loss. Calgary is now 13-15, while Brinkley is 16-12.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Gerardo Ponce de Leon came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Brinkley pitcher Ewan Atwood, he hit a 0-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Calgary on top, 5-4.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Brinkley manager Ricardo Medina. "But we decided not to take it."
