Longnecks Get One-Run Win at Bakersfield
|
Bloomington and Bakersfield played a hard-fought contest at Jerome Grounds.
Bloomington pitcher Bill Tugwell did his part in helping his team beat the Bakersfield Nobles, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win was credited to Ron Mingo in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Shawn Williams took the loss.
Tony Martínez went 1-4 for Bloomington. In the top of the seventh, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Martínez delivered for the Longnecks. His run-scoring ground out put Bloomington on top, 3-2.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Tugwell.
Losses have been few and far between for the Nobles, who are now 13-5.
