Lowell Evans helped his team muscle past the Bethesda Atoms, 9-1. In the game, the Marquette first baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Denny Bound earned the save for Marquette, his 3rd of the year. The 9th-place Miners lifted their record to 48-50.
Early in the game, Evans had a 2-run home run for Marquette. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Miners on top, 2-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Evans told the Marquette Gazette.
