Victory Over Polar Bears Takes Akron to 60-37
It was a good time at Goodyear Hanger Dome, where fans came to watch the Billings Polar Bears and Akron Blimps get after it.

Billings got a terrific performance from pitcher Joe Abshire, but it wasn't enough to beat the Akron Blimps. Akron won the Goodyear Hanger Dome contest, 5-1. Abshire was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Akron reliever Rod Shannon picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Joe Abshire absorbed the loss.

Mathew Mayo had a big run-scoring double for the Blimps in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Akron leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a knuckle curve from Joe Abshire and stroked the double to left. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blimps ahead, 2-0.

"It was a good effort all around," said Mayo.

The Blimps have an impressive 60-37 record.
