Akron Blimps starter Stephen Palmer was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Durham Rapiers, 4-3. Dewitt Clendaniel got the save, his 4th in 5 chances. The Blimps bumped their record to 58-34 with this latest triumph.

The Rapiers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Blimps going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding shortstop Carlos Martínez came to the plate. Martínez hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Durham hurler António Fernández. It was Martínez's 16th home run of the year.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Martínez told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
