Nationals Squelch Polar Bears Offense in Shutout Win
Ottawa Nationals starter Gerald Emerson was in fine form against the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo, leading his team to a 3-0 win. Emerson, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. David Blake nailed down his 21st save.

Ottawa used the timely hitting of Cary Collins to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Nationals on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Ottawa manager Fernando Gonzáles. "Our pregame was pretty good."

Ottawa is now 37-42. Billings is 32-47.
