Highlanders Drop Polar Bears, 7-3
|
Despite a great performance by Billings shortstop Toni Vilen, the Asheville Highlanders defeated the Polar Bears by the score of 7-3 at The Igloo. Vilen went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Manuel Medranda picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-4. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. Asheville currently is in 5th place in the Menard's AA at 42-36.
The Highlanders grabbed the lead in the top of the second. With two out, Oasiz Wiesblatt, the 3rd overall pick in the 2036 draft, hit a 2-run home run off Peer Aarsen, putting Asheville in front, 5-0. For Wiesblatt, it was his 2nd home run of the season.
"Feels good to get the job done," Wiesblatt said after the game.
