McDermott, Marquette Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
The Marquette Miners defeated the Billings Polar Bears, 2-0, in M3L Double A action at Marquette Stadium, with Marquette pitcher Jeff McDermott named player of the game. Jorge Vega, credited with the save, is now 15 for 17 in save opportunities. The win puts the Miners at 36-37, while the Polar Bears drop to 31-42.

McDermott, a native of Santa Ana, California, was dealing all game. He kept Billings hitters off-balance, while giving the Miners 7.1 quality innings. McDermott threw 102 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 9.
