Richland starter Guillermo Guerrero pitched effectively against the Billings Polar Bears at Rails Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. In 7 innings, Guerrero surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The 6th-place Rails are now 37-34, the Polar Bears 31-40.
The Polar Bears had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Rails going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old center fielder Alejandro Córdova came to the plate. Córdova hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Billings hurler Nate Johnstone. It was Córdova's 1st home run of the year.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Guerrero told the Richland Times.
