Blimps Come Up Short at Asheville
|
The Asheville Highlanders defeated the Akron Blimps, 5-4, at Asheville Park today. Leading the charge for Asheville was shortstop David Austin. He was 1-2 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Gong Chin got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Highlanders saw their record improve to 31-19.
Making an impact for the home team was Troy Flynn. In the bottom of the fifth, the 26-year old catcher had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 4-2, Highlanders.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Asheville manager Mark Everhart.
