Multi-HR Day for Rutledge as Highlanders Overpower Atoms, 5-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders topped the Bethesda Atoms by the score of 5-2, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder King Rutledge. Rutledge went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Highlanders. Anbrosio Mera was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. The save was credited to Jonathan Lentz, his 3rd.
Kevin McIndeor was a prime factor in the win for the Highlanders. In the top of the fifth with two out, the 25-year old right fielder hit a run-scoring single. He went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McIndeor told the Asheville Observer.
With the win, the Highlanders have a record of 19-11.
