Big Day by Nada Sparks Blimps Win
The Akron Blimps beat the Marquette Miners, 11-4, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Surender Nada, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Tom Holloway was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Hans Rager nailed down his 8th save.

Yu-bao Wie, the Akron catcher, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 3-0, Blimps. For the game, Wie went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Nada.

Akron is off to a hot start at 15-5.
