The Durham Rapiers did just enough to sneak past the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 6-5, at Rapiers Ballpark. Durham pitcher Andy Fallon earned player of the game honors. The Rapiers, now 9-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Guo-liang Ye tagged a home run off Jeffery Brock in the bottom of the ninth. His solo blast put the Rapiers on top, 6-5. In all, Ye had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.
Ye said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
